Movie not found in XP

Dick

Using a Win98 Office97 version of PowerPoint I have an
avi movie "linked" on a slide. Both ppt and avi files in
the same folder. As a test, I move both files to a new
folder, run the movie and ppt finds the avi in the new
default location and saves the location if I say yes on
close.

Next test was to move the ppt and avi to a Windows XP pro
machine with PowerPoint 2002. There the "movie not
found" error occurs (unless I use th same folder name)
but the avi in the new default location is not found.

Is there a way to manually edit the avi location within
ppt? At least the Office97 version can re-locate it in a
default location but not Office XP? This would be a
typical problem encountered when taking a CD copy of a
ppt show to another computer for presentation.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Linked movies are tricky to work with. You are many steps ahead of most, in
testing and discovering problems before distributing. The two best options
are:
1. PowerPoint 2003 will make all links relative (of course the downside is
you have to purchase PowerPoint 2003).
2. Fix Links Pro is an add-in that will make the links relative and it works
in all versions of PowerPoint. Here is a link to get all of the details.
