Movie playing problem...

I have been inserting movies into PowerPoint for ages and all has been fine.
I bought a new computer and now when I play a movie it suddenly switches to
"full screen" mode on the data projector. The screen goes blue for 5 second
or so and all I then see is the movie - not the rest of the PP slide.

My computer guru says that this because of the new chipsets that all
computers are using now and that I have to re-write my presentations and put
up with the abrupt mode change. It's really messy and I don't see any options
in PowerPoint or anywhere else to correct it. Any ideas please?

I've seen the same problem, but usually toggling the display so that it's
only on the LCD projector (as opposed to being on both the LCD and the
laptop) corrects it.
