movie won't play on powepoint

i've set up a powerpoint presentation, and inserted a movie. the i con
appears just fine, but when i click on play movie, the icon goes black and
doesn't play. i know the movie itself is fine because i can play it both on
media player and real one player. any ideas what could be wrong?
