Movies in PPT turn white during Slide Show

I have PPoint 2002, Windows 2000. I've used Dazzle/Movie Star product to capture video from my VCR and saved as MPEGs onto my computer. I inserted the movies into PowerPoint. Some work and some don't. Some movies turn into a blank white box when I go into Show. No sound either. I'm losing my mind here and have been fumbling with this for 2 days now. Does anyone have any ideas on what may be my problem

Yeah, it's the Dazzle codec. Try saving your MPEG with something more
standard.
