Movies - Stop & Continue

Damien

I'm putting WMV clips into PP just fine, but at the end of the clip I can't
click to go to the next (still) slide - it starts the clip again. I can't use
Qtime clips. I'm not sure if I'm not using the settings right, or if what I
want to do is not possible (that would seem strange). I thought maybe this
happens because when you view a clip in WMP it auto goes back to the start,
does not stop and stay at the end, even if you don't set it on Repeat.

Any suggestions ?

Check settings in custom animation. Double click the media item (not the
triggered one)

In the effects tab >start playing "from beginning" - stop playing "on click"
In the timing tab repeat "none"
In movie setting "hide when not playing"

Your problem is likely to be that you are clicking on the video itself and
activating the trigger to restart. The movie setting above ensures that you
cant do this.

John,

Thanks, but I'm using PP2000. I don't seem to have those choices under
Custom Animation. I had a 'Media 1' box checked, but no other choices. No
'start playing' / 'stop playing' choices or timing tab.

Hi Damien,
Try this out. Use the Windows Media Player control.
First, you will need the control toolbox to be displayed.
Click View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox.
On the toolbar, click on the last icon which should be "More Controls".
Scroll right to the bottom and select Windows Media Player.

Now, you will be able to insert the player at any of the slides.
To do so, you can either click on the slide, or click and drag to a
preferred size.
A properties screen should appear. If it doesn't, right click on the player,
select properties.
Under (Custom), click on the empty field which then displays a three dots
button. Click on the button. Now, you will be able to select the file name or
url.

Does clicking "Off the video itself" not work?

damien - Im just "simulating" ppt 2000 in 2003 here but I see an option in
multimedia settings to "continue slide show while playing video" This seems
to enable the click to advance (off the slide) if not ticked seems to take
two clicks

Thanks John & Tohlz, but neither seemed to work, at least when viewing at
full screen. So I just reduced slightly the perimeters of the slide/movie and
now I can click off the side of the slide, which I could not do before. It
does not look quite as good, but it works. I appreciate your help.

One last thought - have you tried tapping the space bar to advance??
