Moving Archived message changes date

When I move a message from an Archive - I think it was created using
AppleScript in v 2004, but basically it's a series of folders not in my
Inbox or 'Folders on my computer' - to a folder in my account the date is
changed to the date the Archive was imported.

Is there a way to keep the original date of the email?

Your best bet is to view the message list by Date Sent instead of Date
Received. You can toggle the two columns at View > Columns, or by
control-clicking the column titles.
