moving axis and tick labels

does anyone know how to make adjustments to the axis labels so that they fall
between the tick marks rather than on them? is it something I am
overlooking? i've made all kinds of adj's to the input to manipulate the
labels but it just doesn't work. i currently have to hide the labels and
manually put in text boxes, but the problem comes in like now that we are
adding new data for the new year. any help would be great.

double click on the axis and adjust the tick marks in the format axis menu.
You can also adjust the gaps between bars (if this is the chart type you're
using) by doubling click on a bar, selecting the Options tab.

As Sandy says, double-click the axis to make adjustments to the tick marks
and labels.

On the Scale tab, depending on the type of chart you're working with, there
may be an option for "value axis crosses between categories." Try changing
that setting and see if it helps.

You might also see if turning on the minor tick marks on the patterns tab
helps.

that stuff doesn't work. it still places the label right at the tick mark -
not in between the tick marks. i've worked my way through all of that stuff
- i do that before i even ask for help on anything. there has to be some
type of way to do it in the programming without having to manually place the
labels there. perhaps more options in Powerpoint to manipulate charts that
way would be helpful.

Oh, absolutely it would be helpful to have more options in charts, but what
I describe about deselecting the "value axis crosses between categories"
works for me. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

thanks. glad to know it works for someone. sometimes because of the fact
that we have several packages on our pc's, not all of the functions work
properly which is more than likely this case. We make regular use of Lotus
123 and Freelance Graphics along with Corel Wordperfect and all of Microsoft
Office including Publisher and Frontpage. as we all know Microsoft products
don't work well with these others. we've learned in order to get things
working their best we have to install them all in a certain order or none of
it works and it continually crashes. and, sometimes even then, you still
wind up with problems. for instance, once i loaded wordperfect, i began
having problems with outlook so i have to uninstall and reinstall outlook
which in turns creates problems with wordperfect so that has to be
uninstalled and reinstalled and so on and so on until i finally decided to
give up on certain functions and just deal with it. it has been nonstop
problems ever since.

at least i know what to look for. maybe one day we'll finally get to
convert things over and only use one suite. each has their own functions
that work best with certain aspects of our work making it impossible to get
it down to one.

thanks for your help.
