moving from POP account with MAIL.App to IMAP with Entourage X

Greetings!
I am preparing to install an in-house IMAP email system (Kerio
MailServer) that will run on our W2K server. Currently all of my Macs
are using Mail.app or Netscape for accessing their POP accounts
(hosted by our ISP). I want the Macs to use Entourage as their new
IMAP email client.
My question is when I import mail, etc from their old POP accounts
into Entourage, will all of that data get transferred into their new
IMAP account on our server? In other words, will all of my users email
get imported to their new Kerio mailbox on the server to be accessed
by Entourage via IMAP? I hope I am making myself clear.
I'm just not sure if the Entourage import procedure cares whether it's
going from POP to IMAP and will it be smart enough to import data onto
the server rather than the workstation.
Any advice, experience woul dbe greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you choose to Import messages which had been downloaded to local folders
in Mail.app then they will come in as local messages "On My Computer".
(Entourage X doesn't import from Netscape 7.x for OS X, only from Netscape
4.x Classic.)

If all those messages were never removed from the server and are still
there, the _don't_ import from Mail - just go to the IMAP account and
folders after creating the account as IMAP. However, most likely all (or all
but the latest) messages were really downloaded and removed from the server.
So you won't find them on the server. Instead, after importing as local
messages from Mail, go into each such local folder , select all the
(imported) messages, click Move button on the toolbar, and move them to an
appropriate IMAP folder. (You'll want to create all the IMAP folders you
need before, or while, doing this.)

Now all the messages are on the server. Don't forget there's usually some
limit to the size of each user's mailbox on the server. No matter how large,
there's a limit. So you may want to move only the past 6 months' worth of
messages, say, to the server, leaving the rest as local. You could do that
by sorting the local folders by Sent column (in Entourage) and
shift-clicking to select only messages within the correct time frame before
clicking Move button.
