Moving .pst from 98 to XP

Hello -

I'm helping a friend copy Outlook files from his desktop
(Win98) to a new laptop (WinXP).

For some reason the Export didn't capture all of the
data; contacts, calendar, etc.

I exported to a new CD, to copy to the laptop, but the
new imported data always comes up short.

I'm missing something somewhere...

thanks,
JT

I tried that too. But 98 and XP use different directory
paths and I wasn't sure I was putting the file in the
right place. I would search for "Outlook" and ".pst" in
98, copy the files, then hope I pasted them in the right
XP folder.

thanks,
Jeff

Why export?
Just copy and reuse the PST file. It's where all the mail, calendar,
contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

No. Do not try to overwrite a PST file!
Put it anywhere you want it. Then configure Outlook to use it instead of the
one it may already be using.
Just plopping a PST on top of another is not a good idea.
