MP3 files not accepted

I am using Power Point 2002. It will not accept my mp3
files under the insert, sound/movies, sound from file. I
have tried to go to insert, object, then my mp3 location,
but that doesn't work either. If I use a conversion
program to make it a WAV file, then it inserts OK. Any
ideas of an easier way to do this?

This has worked for me-
Download and install the most recent version of Windows
Movie Maker. Here is the link:
