mp3 Issues in PowerPoint 2003

I have an old PowerPoint presentation I made last year that had mp3's
embedded into it that worked without a problem. Just recently, I've tried to
view this presentation again and the mp3 files are not recognized and won't
play. Also, in generating a new presentation, PowerPoint will not allow me
to insert mp3 type sound files.

I believe I have had AdWare / SpyWare issues that I think I have cleaned up,
but the mp3 files still don't play. What can I do to restore this?

Thanks,

V.J.

Thanks for your reply. I was getting an error message stating that the file
format was not compatible or something of the sort (I don't remember the
exact wording).

However, your tutorial has helped me resolve the problem. Much appreciated!

As per your tutorial, I went in to look at the MCI Extensions in the
registry and sure enough "mp3" did not exist. I added it back in and started
up the PowerPoint presentation and it worked perfect.

Thanks for your help!

Assuming that the MP3 links aren't broken, you may need to clean up your MCI
settings in your registry. See
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm for
specifics.

I'm thinking this may be the issue also because you can't insert MP3s into
PPT 2003. What happens, though, when you try? Do you get an error message?

Glad to hear it, veejay.

(Austin Myers actually wrote the tutorial, and Sonia Coleman hosts it. I
just pointed you to it. I think that qualifies as a true team effort!)

I am having the same problem with the Microsoft PowerPoint not recognising my
mpg3 files. The tutorial page
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm
is not coming up when I click on it.
Can you help?
