MP3 playback issues - PP XP

Hi,

I am running Powerpoint XP.

I am experiencing some crackling when playing back MP3 files within a
PP presentation. The files run and sound fine in any of my music
players (Windows Media, Winamp etc), but crackle when inserted into a
presentation.

Is this a hardware issue?
Anyone else experienced it?

i can't get ppt to attach anything but a wav file.
how did you get it to accept an mp3. the help file is no
help.

What versio of PowerPoint are you using? PowerPoint 97 does not support
MP3's.

I've got one machine running mp3 fine in PP(Win98se)
and another that won't even insert mp3 into PP(Win98se).
I've been reinstalling and updating for 1 1/2 days. Post
your solution when you find it, there must be away to
update the player connection in PP. Good Luck

What happens if you play the MP3 in the MCI Media Player? You can test
it by going to Start/Run and typing in mplay32.exe (assuming you're
using Windows 2000, NT or XP).
