MS Office Professional Edition 2003

Just purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000 and to my amazement, MS Office hadn't
been installed. Instead Dell choose Word Perfect. So now all transferred
files from the old HP have been saved in Word Pad on the Dell. Formatting
has been lost so I'll need to delete, install MS Office and transfer again.
What a pain.
What's up with Word and why would Dell select that software over MS Office.
Unbelievable.

Um, ask Dell, or kick yourself for not specifying Office be installed?

Dell's choice to do that and you get it free anyway.. WordPerfect is a
reputable office suite, and can save in a format that MS Word can read..
i.e. rtf format..

Actually - it's nothing whatsoever to do with Dell. It's *YOUR* fault for
not specifying you wanted MS Office - the option was there. Dell can't read
your mind, you know. You left it set at the default, so that's what you got.
Had you wanted Office 2003 Professional, you should have selected it. It
would have cost you an extra $349.
