MS Office Reminder POP-UP

A

AndyO

Just installed SP1. Working fine. My only complaint is that I still
can't figure out how to get the MS Office Reminder to POP-UP when a
Reminder sounds. If I have minimized it or closed it, it stays that
way even though I hear the reminder. Am I missing something or is this
just the way it works (or fails to) now?

Office 2004 Reminders would always pop-up.

I am wondering the same thing. I've been missing meetings because the reminder does not pop up or stay on top of other windows.

Are you running Leopard? Have you possibly assigned it a single space in
Spaces? If so, remove it and it will appear regardless of the space
you're viewing at the time.

Hope this helps!

Hello William, What do you mean? Your post is not clear. Please explain. Thank you. I am having the same reminder issue. They are not working!

Hi again,

Got it now - Spaces built into 10.5 - mine is NOT enabled at all and reminders have not worked for a while. It is killing me! I have checked everything. If I quit the Microsoft Office Reminders app and reopen it updates properly otherwise it does not update on its own. HELP please!

Are you running Mac OS X 10.5.3 (the latest version)? I believe each
update to Leopard has included Spaces fixes. Also, I assume you too are
updated to Office 2008 12.1.0 (SP1 installed), correct?

Do you use multiple monitors? Have you checked whether it might be hidden on
a second monitor?

Otherwise open com.microsoft.entourage.office_reminders.plist file and make
sure there is no negative value in "NSWindow Frame savedFrame" key.

Or you can try deleting above plist file and relaunch office reminder.

Thanks

I deleted all of the office plist files to no avail.

When you say that Reminders works for you, are you saying that it pops-
up in front of all other applications when each reminder happens even
if you have previously manually closed it?

I never close it. I just dismiss or reschedule it using snooze button. Can't
remember if I moved it from the default location, but it always shows up on
the bottom right of my screen.

Just to be clear we are talking about Reminders not My Day.

OK - that's not "working" in my book. In Entourage 2004 you could
close the window and it would re-appear when it was time for another
reminder. I never kept it open all the time - it sits on top of
everything else. Don't you find that somewhat distracting/annoying
(not to mention the loss of screen real estate)?

Using it as you describe, it's basically the same thing as My Day with
audible alarms.

I don't think 2008 will work as 2004 did.

SOLVED

Taking a hint from Diane, by snoozing an alarm for a specific period
of time and then QUITTING (not closing) Reminders, it will pop back
open as desired.

Glad you got that fixed.

Glad you got that fixed.

Thanks. The key difference between E04 and E08 that I FINALLY figured
out is that if you keep multiple alarms active (as I tend to do), the
reminder does not pop back up when another one goes off. The solution
is to either Quit the program as I mentioned above or to keep snoozing
or dismissing until there are no reminders displayed. Then it will pop
back up when running.
