Hi Frank,

You can copy and paste link information from one project file (mpp) to
another project file. However, this may lead to some corruption problems.
Can you tell us a bit more about what you are trying to accomplish? For
example if you are trying to create tasks in one project that are dependent
upon tasks in another project, there may be better methods.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I'd avoid focusing on Project. It'll blur your vision...

Dave,
I think you mis-posted your "humor" against the wrong question.

I know, slip of the finger - or is that slip of the "click"?

Hey Juli!
Thanks a lot for your replay!
Ok, will describe the problem a little closer:
I have got a .mpp file with the whole project data: the main tasks and all
subtasks . Now, I want to create a new .mpp file which only contains the main
tasks (and the complete duration, work time and so on) from my detailed
project file. And when I change the main task in my detailed .mpp file, the
main taks in the new file should change also..

You got an idea??

Hi Frank,

You're welcome for the assistance thus far and thanks for the additional
information.

If you only wish to show information on "main" tasks in one file, it may be
a whole lot easier to just work with filters in the one file to filter out
the tasks you don't wish to see. Take a look at the filter called Summary
Tasks.

You can also choose which level of tasks (Outline Level 1 - the "main" or
top level summary tasks, Outline Level 2 - next level tasks down, etc) by
selecting the Outline level from the Show drop down on the Formatting
toolbar.

Again, if this is only from one project, it is much more efficient to work
with just the one file. If you want to see "main" tasks from several files,
you can create a master through Insert > Project and still use the filtering
or Outline level option as needed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
