MS Project?

I need to learn MS Project for employment purposes. I own a Mac & have
been told there is a Mac version of MS Project in Entourage for project
management. However, I have also been told that this is incorrect &
that Entourage is simply an email client like Outlook for PCs. Before I
pay money for it & tell employers I know how to use it, can someone
please let me know if Entourage does have a version of project
management similar to MS Office's MS Project? Thanks so much!

It doesn't. It has a facility where you can view related emails and
contacts etc, but that's not the same thing :-(

You need to look at something like Merlin
<http://www.projectwizards.net/en/> or Omni Plan (beta)
<http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniplan/> instead. (There's
another Mac program that's apparently compatible with MS Project, but I
forget the name.)

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks so much, Chris. Very helpful. Just be be sure, Entourage's
Project Center / Project Palette doesn't function like MS Project? :)

Heh.

There was a discussion on MacSlash which mentioned lots of other
project planners (and related tools). See
<http://macslash.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/17/2012240>.

That MacSlash discussion predates OmniPlan. I'm a great fan of Omni's
other programs like OmniGraffle, so I'd definitely suggest giving
OmniPlan a look.

Yes, give it a look - event he beta is pretty good, and it interchanges data
with MS Project pretty cleanly as well.

Although you can assign resources with OmniPlan, if you use MSP for costing
reviews etc, this aspect of OmniPlan is sadly lacking (in this iteration of
the programme...)

The beta is free to try (but with an expiry date), the full app will be
around $150 when released.

Lori:

You neeb AEC Software's FastTrack Schedule 9 (www.aecsoft.com) This is
the Mac "analog" to MS Project and you can export to MS Project from
the program. It ain't cheap! About $350, and the learning curve is
somewhat steep. BUT..........it's vert effective

Thanks so much to all of you. The information was very helpful & gave
me a much better handle on things. Best to all, Lori

I like OmniPlan. It's pretty good looking app :)
(then again I'm biased, I like everything OmniGroup makes...)
It also integrates not too bad with iCal to set up reminders.
