MS Vista Upgrade & Display Settings

I upgraded to Vista Home Basic and the display settings are now very, very
large. I've tried to change the resolution, but the slide bar is greyed out.
Monitor displayed fine with XP - any idea how to bring the resolution back
to 1024 x 768? I can change the display mode to 1024 x 768, but all the
colors get messed up. Not sure how it worked okay with XP, but not working
out with Vista. Thanks.
