Msoft needs the large (8MB +) available on low cost CD's

The Last Straw

Microsoft needs to make the larger Downloads avaible on low cost CD's for
those of us held captive to the old dial-up. Verizon for one has missed
three deadlines to make DSL available in my area and after 2 hours of a 4
hour download are lost when the connection to the ISP gets dropped.

Besides the great advice given to you by garfield-n-odie you might consider a good Download Manager which will save you from loosing your downloads when you get disconnected

But if all sites used ftp rather than http for file transfers, this
problem would virtually disappear since ftp, from the good old days
of really slow (2400 baud or slower) dial-up connections, was
designed to handle line drops and reconnections.
