MSProjectServerUser Login Failure - Source Unknown - Help?

I'm receiving the following error on a very consistent
basis in the application log on the SQL Server computer:

The description for Event ID ( 17055 ) in Source (
MSSQLSERVER ) cannot be found. The local computer may not
have the necessary registry information or message DLL
files to display messages from a remote computer. The
following information is part of the event: 18456, Login
failed for user 'MSProjectServerUser'.

The following steps have been taken to try to correct the
problem:
1 - EditSite utility used to ensure all sites have the
correct password for MSProjectServerUser account.
2 - Registry was scanned on App Server to validate same
password for MSProjectServerUser stored in reg data.
3 - MSProjectServerUser account was removed/added to all
Project Server DB instances.
4 - All utilities/services like Tracing Service and
Project Health Monotior were stopped to eliminate them as
a cause.

Unfortunately I have been unable to identify the cause and
I am looking for any help/advice I can get.

Brent:

Is the account set to the corresponding role in the database?
Is the account accidentally being used in place of the MSProjectUser
account?

Gary:

If you mean is MSProjectServerUser assigned to the MSProjectServerRole, then
the answer is 'Yes'. No this account is not being used instead of the
MSProjectUser account. This is based on the fact that the MSProjectUser
account exists in the SQL Server DB and it is assigned to the
MSProjectUserRole. Additionally, the EditSite utility identifies that the
two accounts are used accordingly for each [of the three] production sites
[archive, old, new].

Has anything else happened to make the database inoperable. Disk space is
OK? Logs are properly truncated? I'm fishing...
