multiple accounts - duplicate incoming emails

Hi

I have new Mac and am setting up Entourage.

I have 4 accounts which have the same pop and smtp settings - just the
domain details are different. I have done this so that I can send or
reply using the email address the receiver would expect to see.

When I receive mail I get 4 copies of each one, one for each account.

One email has been set up to forward to one of the others one and, when
receiving, 2 copies appear - one to the domain account and one to the
account to which it is forwarded. (the forwarding is set up by the ISP)

Can anyone help me with what I need to change to correct this.

On my OS9 mac I had the same settings and same accounts without getting
4 of each email.

Thanks

Chris Dore

Set one up as the main account, this will have entries for sending mail
server and receiving mail server.

Set the others up to be 'sending only accounts' - don't put anything in the
receiving mail server details. You will get a warning when you close the
account settings window, but you can proceed.

Edit the 'send and receive all' schedule to remove the 'sending only'
accounts. You only want one account to do all the collecting.

then, set up mail rules so that mail from a particular domain gets
associated with the right account - it makes replies automatically choose
the correct sending account.

Hi. I'm so glad I came across this site. I've been having the same
problem. I've followed your steps, but I'm sketchy on the mail rules
part.

I'm assuming it goes something like this.....

IF
Any recipient IS [email protected]

THEN
Change account [email protected]

Sorry, I hit the post button to soon.

Anyway, with those settings it seems to be working, but are they
correct?

Thanks
