I have a problem with assigning some contacts to categories and then
seeing incoming messages not pick up the category colour. This never
worked consistently in Entourage 2004, but in Entourage 2008 I have
noticed a "Link to existing > Contact..." item in the Tools menu. This
list shows duplicates that seem to be the source of the problem.
However, I can't see or access the duplicates anywhere that I can
find; they don't show up in my Address Book. Any ideas on what might
be going on here?

You might need to merge some of your contact entries.

You can check for duplicates and remove them with a script.

To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.

In addition, you can sync with Apple's Address Book and use it's feature to
remove duplicates and merge.
