Multiple copies of emails

Entourage is downloading many of my emails over and over. It seems it is not
deleting messages from the server when it downloads my mail, and then the
next time it checks for mail, it downloads the same messge. Often this will
happen as many as 4 times before it deletes the message on the server. I have
the account set up to NOT leave messages on the server, but it still is. How
do I fix this?

Same problem, although I don't know the full problem, I suspect that
Entourage 2004
may not be properly sending a quit terminating message to the POP3
server after sending
it's deletions, resulting in the server assuming the connection was
broken, and not offically
deleting the messages (as defined by the POP3 spec), and/or one or
both are not properly
uniquely identifying their messages and confusing each other, and/or
there's a race condition
between the POP3 server farm, and a central email database, where
although mail was marked
for deletion from the last pop3 server connected to, it failed to send
the deletions to the
central database prior to re-connecting to a different pop3 server,
which still thinks the
previously deleted mail is still valid (where if this it true, it's
possible that the delays caused
by comcast's and others attempt to spam/virus filter all mail is more
trouble than it's worth.

(basicly it's a mess, but at least Apple mail seems to try not to
display duplicates, but wish
Entourage was more reliable, not to mention faster, as 2004 is a big
step backward realative
to thier previous version in general reliability and interactive
performance with large email
mailboxes/databases based on my experience so far)
