Multiple Double Clicks and Deletes

While using Entourage it appears that the touchpad/button is registering multiple clicks when I go to select items. From time to time when I hold down CTRL and select a second/third/etc. item it will open them all, even when I don't double click. This also happens if I select an item and attempt to delete it it will not only delete the item I intend to but also delete a number of other items that would typically be highlighted after I delete the intended one.

Basically my system registers multiple clicks when I simply click once. This only happens in Entourage, no other application on my system will do this. Any thoughts from anyone who has had this issue and resolved it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Have a great day.

Have you checked the Trackpad tab of the Keyboard & Mouse system preference?
I leave the "Clicking" option turned off for exactly that reason -- when I
leave it on, the pad thinks that too many of my touches are intended as
clicks.

Thanks Ed for the suggestion. I checked the the keyboard and trackpad settings beforehand. The issue only happens within Entourage, so I'm fairly sure it is a software problem/glitch of some type. I didn't change my trackpad settings at all and the issue just started to happen. Thanks for suggestion, I appreciate it.

This sounds similar to the sticky keyboard problem in Entourage that
Spotlight can cause.

Go into Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Spotlight and drag in
your Microsoft User Data folder found in your home folder's Documents
folder. This will exclude it from Spotlight's constant scanning as the
Database changes.

Hope this helps!
