Multiple Issues

Hello,

1) I am running 11.3.5 and it seems when my store gets to be 8-9 GB my
DB gets corrupted. I thought Entourage was unlimited?

2) When running pop after fixing the DB it re downloaded all 5-6,000
emails why? The emails where already there so I have duplicates
now. Does Entourage not check to see what it has and does not have?

Any ideas to help going forward? I do not want to Archive emails
either...

The size of the database has nothing to do with it getting corrupted.

The Entourage 2004 database has no size limit, just a limit to the number of
items in the Entourage database: 2 million database items. More info:

A rebuild looses the links on what has been downloaded. You can use scripts
to remove the duplicates.

Nothing other than change the way you store your messages. Your decision to
keep large numbers of messages on the server will always cause this type of
problem. Even though Entourage can store a lot of info it's not really
designed to be a full featured database with unlimited capabilities.

I know this is a microft area but when working with emails in this
case would you recomend apple mail? He is only using entourage for
email and contacts but not the calendar. From your experiance would
you say this happens a lot?
Thanks

If Apple Mail fits more into how this user wants to use email, then it would
seem to be a better choice. IHMO, the scenario of keeping huge amounts of
email on a server is only going to complicate downloads into any email
client. You would need to test in both clients to see which is easer to
manage when there are problems.

Both Entourage and Mail have features that are unique. Depending on a user's
needs the best client is the one that most matches that users needs.

What do people typically do in Entourage to solve this issue? Print
emails? Dont accept attachements and use an FTP server?
Thanks

Keeping 8-9Gb of mail on a server is going to cause problems. I would
archive my mail. It might be possible to move older mail to a folder on the
server where it is not downloaded again. This could solve a lot of your
problems.

You can archive your mail by creating a separate Identity for older mail, or
store as MBOX files. One of the backup applications moves your mail into a
FileMaker database (does not require you to own FM).

See Archive Your Data <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/database/archive.html>
and Backup Your Data <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/database/backup.html>
for different solutions.
