Multiple users, multiple pop accounts frustration!

Have just got myself a spanking new Imac running Entourage 2004 (and
very nice it is too). I've set up two user accounts (one for me, one
for the significant other half). We share a single POP3 account with
separate email addresses for both of us. On my previous PC I was able
to configure Outlook Express via rules to make sure that emails were
downloaded into the correct user account/inbox.

Having read numerous different threads, I'm still none the wiser (and
becoming increasingly frustrated at) as to how to configure the
accounts so that when I log in and open Entourage, my inbox receives
the correct emails and when my other half logs on,her inbox receives
the correct emails (as opposed to whoever opens Entourage first,
downloads all emails from the POP server).

Grateful for any tips as to how to sort this (in terms that a Mac
luddite can understand)

Are you using the same Identity in Entourage? You mention "my Inbox" and
"her Inbox".... Are your accounts aliases? You only need a Rule if you are
sharing an Identity.

Here is an example of a rule if you are sharing an Identity. One account can
automatically go to the default Inbox. No rule is necessary for this action.
Next create "Her Inbox".

Create Rule:
if
If any criteria are met
Any Recipient contains "insert her email address here"

Then
Move Message Select Her Inbox from folder list.

If you are planning on having multiple folders, this I suggest using
separate Identities. It's easy to switch Identities and this would also
increase your privacy.

I suggest you read over Rule Basics and Troubleshooting Rules if you
continue to have problems.

Thanks Diane - some progress but still not quite there yet. The
rule-based solution works but it is not an ideal one. I tried creating
separate identities but this still ends up receiving emails for both
our email addresses (which I suspect has something to do with the
aliases point?).
