music in powerpoint 2002

I am doing my first Power Point presentation for an anniversary and I need to know if I should somehow convert songs on a cd into a .wav format . Family members will want copies of the show and I would like the music to stay with the presentation. Everything sounds great now but I won't be using my computer for the presentation and I would like to burn it on to a cd. I would really appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Hi Norma,

Have you ever tried to dig a hole with a garden rake? Sure, it can be done,
but it is a lot more work than it needs to be. PowerPoint might be the
garden rake in this case. It is a great tool, but not the best one for this
type of application.

I would strongly recommend that you look into Windows Movie Maker 2. It has
an audio capture feature to get music from CD's and embed them into a movie
file. These movie files can be played on almost any computer (usually
without problem) and some DVD players. The movie file keeps sound/video
sync, which is something that PowerPoint does not do well.

For this application (anniversary photo album loop), you may be better off
using PowerPoint to organize the pictures, adjust brightness, placement,
etc. Then , export the presentation slides to PNG/JPG/GIF files and import
those into WMM2.

Hope this helps,

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -

Hello,

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions for how to
make this easier to do in PowerPoint, don't forget to send your feedback
(in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
