My Birthdays listed in contacts, keep disappearing out of the cal.

The birthdays that I list under each contact used to appear in my calendar as
well, but every so often, some of them will just disappear. I need to know
what to do to fix this, as I do not want to keep going in, and just
reentering all of that information. I am using Microsoft Office 2003XP
