My contacts section is suddenly empty, all emails still there.

I recently had to reinstall all my software. I backed up outlook, and
everything was still there no when I reloaded it. However, after pulling all
my old emails over, I closed the old folder and now all of my contacts are
missing. I have run multiple searches. Are they lost or is there a way to
retreive them? My Calendar is also now empty, but all of my email folders are
intact.

State how you backed up your data. State how you did your restore. Verify
that you are using a view that includes your Contacts Folder.
