My copy of entourage won't open

Have you used this Entourage identity before, with a different version of
Entourage (i.e. an updated version of Entourage 2004)? Microsoft changed the
database format for Entourage 2004 at least twice, with the SP1 and SP2
updates; a database used by such an updated version cannot be opened by a
pre-SP1/2 version of Entourage. Long story short: update Entourage (using
the Microsoft AutoUpdate application in your Applications folder), and it
should be able to access your identity again.


Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help. I've got a full licenced
version of Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac but it won't let me use
Entourage. This is the error message I keep getting:

Cheers Michel, updating it worked thanks. But now Word is telling me
that I'm using a trial version... oh the joys of Microsoft.

You've probably still got your Office 2004 Test Drive (or parts of it) on
your hard disk. Remove it using the Remove Office tool (in
Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office), and all
should be well again. In case you need to reinstall Office 2004 again after
the removal, remember to update to the latest version to get Entourage to
open your database.
