My Database keeps getting damaged

Dave Leer

I transfer my Database back-and-forth between my home and work computers at
least once a week. Recently, I started receiving the following pop-up
message only on my home computer:

"Your Office database is damaged

Do you want to quit MSN Messenger and all Microsoft Office programs so that
the Database Utility can run?"

After repairing the database it seems to go away but then comes back. This
has only happened on my home computer and not the one at work. Any idea what
could cause this?

Thanks!

Hi Barry,

No, I have never done this before. Do you think that any long term damage
could be done to my Database by corrupting and repairing it as
many times as I have?

Thanks for the info!!!

thanks for your helpful responses!

No, I doubt that you will cause additional damage to the database by
rebuilding. It is _possible_ (I don't say 'likely' - I just don't know)
that
copying before quitting the daemon may leave some corruption in there
though.

When you copy the database back and forth, do you quit the daemon first?

See here for more details:

Yes, it does - but logging back in again will promptly re-start it, if you
have Notifications turned on.

1. So if I turn notifications off I will be able to copy my DB without
worrying about corrupting it if I logout and log back in?

2. Are the notifications for the calendar reminders?

Thanks!!!

Yes (in fact, with notifications turned off the daemon will quit when ALL
office apps are closed - no need to logout)
