My e-mail's have disappeared

I moved my computer from one room to another and it was unplugged from the
internet for a few days. But when I plugged it back in all of my e-mail's
were gone. I did a search for large mail and they all seamed to come up. But
they are not in my inbox. I have checked the tech support page and the
article that was the closest (talking about my e-mail's disappear after I
have read them) is not the problem. I get e-mail's and they stay in my inbox
but none of the older one's are there.

Hi, BEH1230,

Are you using Outlook? Are you using autoarchiving? If so, your e-mail may
have moved to an archive.pst file somewhere else on your hard drive.

After furious head scratching, BEH1230 asked:

| Outlook 2003, I never turned the autoarchiving on.

I could be wrong (it's been a while since I used 2003) but I believe
archiving is turned on by default. You might want to check the setting to
make sure as Susan may have the correct answer.

Well I have NEVER known of a computer that's moved from one room to another
and disconected from the internet to lose any data that's on the hard disk.
What sort of email account do you have? is it perhaps Hotmail?

I was stating what I did before this, I didn't think this was revalent info
but I figured any info might help.

I had this happen on my laptop once with 2007 outlook. But some how I got
it fixed which I can't remeber how. And no, it isn't a hotmail account.

I just the checked outlook and I noticed that all of the folders are gone
that I made. Any new e-mail's that come in stay there. They don't disapear
and the rules have multiple errors saying that the folders don't exist. It is
almost like someone came and re-installed outlook and added in my e-mail
accouant's.
I would think that even if archiving was on, it should take all of the
e-mail's and the folders too. But I am not an expert. If that would be true,
where would it be located so I could turn it off and get all of the e-mails
back as well.

Thanks

And ALL that has happened is that this machine was disconnected from the
internet (what sort of connection?) and moved from one room to another? Is
this machine at home, or at work? Who else has access to it?

Couple of things:

What was the time period between the last time e-mail was working properly
and when you moved the computer to another room?

What do you mean by "...large mail..."?

If the "large mail" is not in your inbox, then where did you find it?

Try a search for all files ending with ".pst" on your hard drive (make sure
the search criteria includes system and hidden files). Report back with the
names and dates of any pst files you find.

Make sure you are in "folder view" on the left side of Outlook. Look
carefully to see if any of those folders have a plus sign (+) on the left
side. You may have to scroll down to see all folders. If any have a plus
sign, click once on the plus sign and see if any of the resulting expanded
folders contain your missing messages.
