My Entourage database is not recognizable after my upgrade

I have just upgraded from 2004 to 2008. The install went fine. The program removed my copy of 2004 in the process. When I started Entourage for the first time, it told me it could not access my data. The Database Utility could not see the database at all, though the files are in the Microsoft User Data 2008 folder.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The option to remove Office 2004 is in the installer, but it is not
mandatory. Sorry! Now you will have to install 2004 again to get to your
mail manually. Installing 2004 AFTER 2008 is going to mess up your new fonts
installed by 2008. It will put back all the fonts that were disabled. I
suggest using "Remove Office" and remove 2008. Install 2004, use the steps
in the link below to get your mail out of our old Identity. Next install
Office 2008. This will get your fonts in the proper location. Import your
mail manually. After you are satisfied with Office 2008, I would then run
"Remove Office" to get rid of Office 2004. Some users are keeping '04 around
for VBA that was removed in Office 2008.

How to manually move your data from one version to another:

Office 2008 Font Install:

Office 2008 uses a different method for fonts and many fonts are new
versions. Office 2008 will install fonts to the /Library/Fonts/Microsoft
folder. By being at the root, then all users on the machine have access to
them and you don't get Office 2008 putting multiple copies on the machine
for each user.

The installer will scour /Library/Fonts/ and ~/Library/Fonts/ for fonts with
the same name and move them to /Library/Disabled Fonts/ or
~/Library/Disabled Fonts/ depending on where they were found.
