My Outlook2k cant read Incredimail

Opening Incredimail (from a friend who has just started using it), I get pages and pages of gobbldygook, although I can usually find the message text in there somewhere. I think I am seeing the script code rather than the intended goofy images that program seems to specialise in. I have tried reading with my virus checked and spy-ware programs de-activated but without success. My friend says he knows other people who use Outlook and can get his messages fine. Are there any Outlook settings I need to fiddle with.
