My screen gets unreadable

When using any of the excel, powerpoint or word and having some graphics
inside or sometimes even that is not necesarily, my screen suddenly get
unreadable. And by saying that it happens a very strange phenomena that a lot
of short lines apear on the screen everywhere even outside of office canvas
area. It is like I set my computer resolution to high and it is not
supported. This happens on my Dell Inspiron 6000 with x300 (64mb) video
card.ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!!! It's about my school work.

I'd start with finding new drivers. If that didn't work, I'd contact Dell
because the graphics chip could be going. And if you aren't under
warranty............you're gonna need some bucks.
