mystery function called 'TABLE'

S

SongBear

Excel: Have a formula from a downloaded spreadsheet: {=TABLE(,K1)} (it is
used in a one column vertical array)
It is not a user defined function, I have created those before and there is
no VBA in the spreadsheet.
I tried using it in another part of the spreadsheet and it doesn't work.
Anybody know what it is? Ever hear of the 'TABLE' function before?
The (trial version) spreadsheet was having to do with analysing queues
(waiting in line) and is
found
at:http://www.handyarchive.com/Business/Applications/7398-Queuing-Model-Excel.html
Also, I have looked at all the sheets and looked for hidden sheets (none)
and there is nothing in any K1 cell, either. So maybe the input for the
second term is zero, but I cannot figure out what 'TABLE' does. At first I
thought it was a lookup function, but there are no named ranges in the
workbook.
its about to discombobulate me.

Hi

Search Excel help for "data table" to get started.

thanks, william.
I actually had looked there before. I have 2003 and am now wondering if the
help for the old table functions has been left out because of, maybe not
being supported anymore (just left in for backward compatibility)
I went back and looked again. I got no good from 'data table', looked at all
of the subjects under that search. I remember something about data tables
from so many years ago I may be remembering something in MS Dos 3.6 based
Quatro Pro, or an earlier version of Excel. Nothing current matched what is
in that sheet. It is kind of neat, did you look at it?

Hi

Have a look under your "Data" toolbar. Do you see "Table..." - if so the
function still exists in XL2003. I'm sure it does exist as John Walkenbach's
Excel 2003 bible deals with tables.

The tables are useful tools, but very memory intensive.

Maybe this recent post to a similar query
might be of some help.. :

http://tinyurl.com/5t5km

Albeit the TABLE formula, e.g.: {=TABLE(D10,D11)}
looks very much like an array formula, it cannot just
be entered as such. The construct must be done / invoked
via the Data > Table menu.

Been using Excel for almost 10 years, surprising the things that can be missed.
thanks ALL, that did help.
No more discombobulation.
