Name in newsgroup

Hi Group

How can I change both my name and my e-mail address in a newsgroup to
disguise the information to limit the chance of a spam. In Outlook Express
this was very simple, in Entourage its a mystery to me.

Thanking you all
Cheers

Easy. Just create a Mail account (Tools > Accounts > Mail tab) with a fake
e-mail address (eg, [email protected]) and then on your News account,
indicate that fake mail account in the E-Mail Account field (Tools > Account
News tab). You won't use that e-mail account for any real mail, of
course, so you don't want it to be included in your Send & Receive All
schedule (Tools > Schedules).

So, what step are you skipping ;-)

1. Go to Tools > Accounts > Mail tab
2. Click on New
3. Click on Configure Account Manually button (if the assistant window
comes up, skip this step otherwise)
4. Select POP (or whatever) and click OK on the Account Type window
5. Fill in Account Name (like: Fake E-Mail Account)
6. Fill in your Name
7. Fill in E-mail Address with a fake address (like: [email protected]).
The rest of the fields are irrelevant.
8. Close the window
9. Go to Tools > Account > News tab
10. Double click the server entry you are using
11. For the E-mail Account field, select Fake E-Mail Account (or whatever
you named it)
12. Close the windows
13. Go to Tools > Schedules > Send and Receive All
14. Make sure there is not a Read Mail from your fake Spam account (delete
it if there is)
15. Done

Hi
As you can see I did sort out my name in newsgroup (Thanks Alan) I now find
I cannot send e-mail although I can receive it. What have I done wrong?

Thanking you all
Cheers

Hard to know what else you might have done beside the steps I gave you.
Since you should have created an entirely new dummy account and that account
is not used for anything (no read or write), it should not have affected
whatever account you do use to send/receive e-mail.

Hi
I think I am nearly there. The only thing that I am unable to do now is
send myself a 'test' mail. Everything else seems fine. I wondered if
Entourage in fact allows a 'test' mail?

Cheers

Hi

Final bulletin. Everything is now OK. Thanks for your patience and support.
I now need the same dot to dot instructions for setting up rules for my
folders. I want to be able to send everything from Mary to the Mary folder
but up to now it all goes to one folder although this is not the 'inbox'/

Cheers
