Need photoshop tips for photos in powerpoint

JC Dill

I need to fix a bunch of photos used in a powerpoint presentation. On
the computer monitor they look fine, but up on the screen they are
horrible. Obviously this is due to the crappy "monitor" output of the
projector and screen. I was wondering if anyone here had a "recipe"
that they typically apply to adjust images in photoshop so that they
display more accurately when projected onto a screen. Yes, I know that
each projector and screen will display images differently, but I was
hoping for instructions along the lines of "you need to adjust the
center of the curve down" or "reduce saturation by half and increase
contrast by ~25%" - so I would have a starting point, as I don't have
ready access to a projector when I'm adjusting the photos.

Thanks!

I think the necessary adjustments really depend on the original pictures,
JC. So it's hard to specify the adjustments to make in Photoshop.

What exactly is "horrible" about the projected photos? Are they pixellated?
Is the color off? Too yellow? Too blue?

You might see if the projector has a "reset" button. Almost all the
projectors I see have contrast and brightness both cranked as high as
possible, and that really screws up slides -- colors are all washed out and
everything just generally looks crappy. Hitting "reset" resets the thing
back to its zero point, and that usually looks much better -- or is at least
a better starting point to adjust contrast and brightness appropriately.
