Need printer recommendations

I'm looking at ink jet, though a cheap color laser might catch my eye.
It has to be able to handle at least 500 pages per month (mostly mailing
labels) and not cost much in ink/toner. Also has to run under Win98 SE.
I don't really care about high dpi - besides the labels I print faxes
and a few letters. Postscript is not important.

Any suggestions?

On a colour laser printer to suit you, the Samsung CLP-500 Colour Laser
Printer is impossible to go past for quality, price, operating cost and 3
year everything warranty. Is a tad larger physically than comparative other
colour laser printers, but colour quality and operating costs rule
everything else out.

Mike,
David is right on about Canon. In your case I'd recommend the i860. Very
fast, high quality print and inexpensive to purchase. Office Depot had them
on sale and then had a rebate on top of that. The Canon ink tanks are easy
to successfully refill. Refilling will cut your cost of printing to almost
nothing. I have three Canon photo printers and they are fantastic. There
are bargains all over the place on i860's. This model has 5 tanks. A
pigmented black for text only and individual c,m,y,k tanks for photo use.

instructions. Check out comp.periphs.printers for more info than you may
ever want on printers. Hint: Canons seem to be the favorite because of their
low cost of operation and high reliability.

All,

I bought the i860. I didn't absolutely need color, but sometimes my
daughter needs a color printout for something at school. Given the small
extra cost, it saves me from having to take a pdf file to the office and
print it there.

Does the refilling station void the warranty?

Refilling will not void the warranty. Only if a failure is directly caused
by a refill or non OEM cartridge would there be a problem. On Canon models
refilling is very popular and has not been know to cause any problems. Did
you get the refilling info file I sent to you?
