Network Links

Hi
I am trying to send a network link to a co-worker which is an easy task
using outlook express for windows. You just highlight text, right
click and add hyperlink. You can even add links to entire folders vs
files. Is there a way to do this using Entourage 2004? Version 11.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi villman!

Windows will rely on either a mapped drive to begin the path to a file
or folder or it will use the full UNC path starting with "\\servername".
Neither of these will be recognized by Macs since they don't map drives
and don't use UNC paths.

If you have a WebDAV enabled server you may have some luck making a
cross-platform link that begins with "http://". WebDAV is an extension
of the HTTP protocol that allows computers to manage files on servers.
Modern OSes such as Windows 2000, Windows XP and Mac OS X can use
WebDAV. An example of this in action on the Mac is .Mac and its iDisk
feature.

As for being able to embed a hyperlink within a word or phrase,
Entourage's capability is limited. You can use Word to create your
message and then embed hyperlinks into whatever you like. Then choose
File --> Send To --> Mail Recipient (as HTML). This will create a new
Entourage message with the Hyperlinks intact as you're expecting.

Hope this helps! bill
