I have a G4 400 with my main database and user info. I have an iBook
that I put an alias of the Microsoft User Data folder from the G4 into
the Documents folder. Everything was working great, so when I got my
email on the iBook it was actually loading it into the database on the
G4.

Now all of a sudden I get a permission denied, no access...but I have
set it to read and write for everyone in permissions etc. Also it
happened suddenly. Any ideas why I cannot access it any more from the
iBook?

I did make a new alias, tried various permission settings on the folder
etc. It just seemed to stop allowing access. Is it an Entourage
setting or OS setting do you suppose?

You are probably trying to access it from both machines at the same time -
access is carried out by a hidden background process called the 'Database
Daemon' - this will keep a database open, even if entourage is quit on both
machines. If the database is open by one daemon, it cannot be accessed by
any other.
