new e-mail address announcement

Laurie Cohen

I have Entourage 10.1.4, and I want to send out my new e-mail address to
580 people in my address book. How do I do this (without showing
addresses of recipients)? Relatedly, I can only send out to a group of 25
addresses at one time. How can i enlarge the group number?

1.) Address the message to YOURSELF, then TAB to the BCC field, and place at
least one address there first for it to stay revealed during the next step.
Then drag all other names (select all from the address book) into the BCC
field of the open message. Then send.

2.) Only problem is that your ISP likely places a 25 name limit on outgoing
e-mails; a spam limiting policy for sure. There is no limit in Entourage,
just the policy of your ISP.

So there is an Applescript called Split Recipients that you can find and use
(I'm sure someone else will tell where to get it.)

Or just make 20 copies of the e-mail yourself, and drag (no pun intended!)
25 names at a time into the BCC window.

Make a new group. Leave it open. Select all your contacts in the address
book and drag the selection in. All contacts are now members of the group.

Check the box "Don't show addresses when sending to group." Save and close.

Get my script "Split Recipients X" from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

It works now with groups too. Run the PREFS script that comes with it and
set the limit to 25*.

Open a new email message. Enter the name of the group. Write your message.

Run the script. It will honor the "Don't show addresses" by sending as BCC
and will split the recipients into groups of 25 each.

*(which is almost the lowest limit I've ever heard of. I originally wrote
the script for someone in Brazil with a limit of 20. Most ISPs have limits
of 100-200.)
