New error message

Last night I received this error message.

<>: missing or malformed local part

Apparently I cannot send email through Entourage; although I seem to
be able to receive just fine.

Has anyone else had this problem (newest version of Entourage for Mac
OS 10+) and have you been able to solve it - and how?

Thanks!

Hmmm, this is a new error message that I have not seen before.
Apparently I cannot send email through Entourage; although I seem to
be able to receive just fine.

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Did this problem after you updated with the latest iTunes and QuickTime
updaters? If yes, then follow these steps:

Download the 10.4.10 combo update for your computer
Reboot/login using Safe Mode
Run Repair Permissions
Install the OS Combo Updater
Reboot

Note: Others have had to resort to an ³Archive & Install² to get working
again.

Hi Diane:

Yes, this did occur shortly after I perfomred the install you
mentioned below; I did run repair permissions; but not the other
steps.

Not sure how to check keychain for corruption...

Or "archive & install."

Thanks for the information - I will work on it as soon as I have the
opportunity.

Definitely apply the Apple Combo updater and follow the steps that were
given.
Not sure how to check keychain for corruption...

Open the Keychain Access application and run keychain first aid. Look in the
Menu bar under Keychain Access to select.
Or "archive & install."
"Archive & Install" is a re-install of the OS over your current system.
"Archive and Install" moves existing system files to a folder named Previous
System and then installs Mac OS X again.

Just be sure to check Preserve Users and Network Settings when you select
Archive & Install.
