New Mail Notification - it doesn't

In my preferences, under the Notification tab, I have enabled "animate
icon" and "bring application to the front" when new mail arrives. But
it never animates or brings the application to the front when I get
new mail. I have to check every hour or so to see if I have anything
new. I would really like this feature to work.

I've rebooted, and lauched Entourage but still nothing.

I am using Entourage X for Mac, Service release 1, version 10.4.1
(030702)

Is there something that I need to do differently? Am I missing
something obvious?

Thanks

You need to have a schedule set up to receive mail automatically, and keep
Entourage in the background or hidden. Go to Tools -> Schedules, and open
your Send & Receive All schedule. Change the Occurrence filed to "Repeating
Schedule," and set the interval at which you want Entourage to check for
mail. Then, if Entourage is in the background when Entourage downloads new
mail, the icon will animate and the application will come to the front.

Thanks Mickey. I figured that I was missing something obvious. I had
check Schedules, saw that it was Enabled and thought that it should
work... I didn't realize that I could go deeper into configuring it.
Indeed 'Send & Receive All' was set to Manual. I set it on Repeating -
every 10 minutes. It works now.

Thanks again!

Jim
