New Mail Sound

In Outlook 2000 I have a wave file for my "new mail"
sound. The other day I started getting a "beep" sound
instead of my wave. I have tried to change the wave to
another sound and it stills just "beeps"... any ideas as
to what is happening here?

Does the sound play from the Control Panel where you changed the sound? It
could be possible that the sound is not properly formatted.

Yes, the sound does play correctly from Control Panel. I
am wondering if a Microsoft patch changed something. I try
to keep the patches applied regularly.
