New Message Address Line Doesn't Recognize Imported Contacts

I imported the Outlook 2003 contact list from my old computer to Outllook
2003 in my new computer, but when I type a name no email address appears, and
when I click on the "to" box the entire contacts box is empty, even though
all my contacts appear to be in the address book. I tried going to
properties on the "Contacts" folder in my contacts, but could not find the
"enable" as suggested in another post. What am I doing wrong?

detail what you did.
Reconcile the discrepancy in your statement "in the 'to' box the entire

Thanks Russ,

First I exported the contacts list from my old computer as a Windows CSV
file. I transferred the file to my new computer and imported it into my new
Outlook contacts folder.

In the outlook on my old computer, as soon as I start to type a name in the
address line, addresses from my contacts list start to appear. Or, if I
click on the "To" icon to the left of the address box in a new message , my
entire contacts list appears. In my new computer, even though all my
contacts are in the contacts folder exactly as they appeared in my old
computer, no addresses appear as I'm typing in the address box, and when I
click on the "To" button, the box that should list all my contacts comes up
empty.

It does help.
I've already posted the solution for enabling your Outlook Address Book.
Autocompletion does not use your Contacts data. It uses a cache of names
created as you send messages. You have not yet populated that cache in a new
installation and will only do so as you send messages.

Hi Russ,

Now I think I know how to describe the problem properly. All of my contacts
were imported into the contacts file in my new Outlook. But when I am
creating a new message, and click on the address book icon to the left of the
address line, the address book comes up empty. How do I get my contacts into
my personal address book?

Make sure you've configured your Outlook Address Book correctly:
