new messages moved to deleted items

Exchange 2007 Mac Client 11.2.5

Symptoms: all incoming mail is moved over to the deleted items folder
as far back as 9/17 (though this behaviour started Oct 1); all
calendar appointments have been removed (and placed in deleted items
folder)
all contacts removed to deleted items and replaced with 10 addresses.

this sounds like a virus or a worm to me--does this ring a bell
anywhere?

thanks

I have since updated to the most recent office 2004 update

I am also currently running a virus scan and it complained about four
files that it was unable to scan because the files were encrypted:

...Office 2004/Office/Add-Ins/Analysis Tools/FuncRes

...Office 2004/Office/Add-Ins/Analysis Tools/ProcDBRes

...Office 2004/Office/Add-Ins/Eurotool.xla

...Office 2004/Office/Add-Ins/Report Manager

does that make sense?

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.

However, your description of contacts and calendar appointments moving is
not related to this "accidental" Mailing List Manager rule. If you ask
again with exchange in the subject, it will get the attention of the
exchange experts that might be able to help with that part of your problem.
