New Palm Conduit

We really need an updated Palm conduit. Only being able to sync a single
address per contact is totally unacceptable.

Right there is no proper syncing on Mac either with Entourage (no multiple
addresses) or Address Book (no categories).

It might be acceptable for Address book that is free, but I paid good money
for Entourage (both v.X and 2004) and I expect a functional product.

Use the send feedback option in the Entourage Help menu and request this
feature. You are in good company...

Hi Lionel,

The first and last time I did a synch with Entourage 2004 and my
Tungsten C which uses v4.5.1P of Address and I had Palm Desktop 4.2.1
for Mac OS X installed, my Entourage 2004 contacts synched over just
fine for both multiple email addresses/phone numbers and by categories
too.

What version of Address are you running?

I think syncing works for Lionel too, he just wants support for two sets of
addresses per contact, which is supported by new Palm devices as the
Tungsten T3 for example.

Don't forget how important the Palm 'categories' are as well. Yes, using
the 'feedback to Microsoft' feature would, hopefully, give their development
team a hint of how short the feature list is with this release. Not only
categories, but the import wizard should allow you to choose which Entourage
destination your 'import' data can be mapped to (Calendar, Notes, Todo), not
just Contacts.

Like most companies, there are deadlines for market 'deliverables' and MS
may have pushed aside many features due to that desire to make money sooner!
After all, the 'customer' is not always right. Their intent was to make a
different product from Outlook, but I sure miss some of those intuitive
features that are missing in Entourage 2004.

If Palm had let MacBU know in advance that they were working on this new OS
5 with support for two addresses, calendar categories, etc., MacBU would
have had a chance to build support into their conduit. The first they knew
about it was the same as everyone else - when the new Palm devices suddenly
appeared. It was far, far too late to rebuild the conduit at that point.
Have you any idea how much work goes into a new version of Entourage, an how
long a time line is from "planning new features", through development,
testing, more development., more testing, beta testing, then release? Big
new features cannot be added at the last minute. Blame Palm, who do not care
about coordinating with MacBU. Maybe the idea is that Missing Sync will
supply everything - I don't know. Anyway, I think you can expect that sooner
or later there will be support, but it missed Office 2004's deadlines by a
_very long way_.
