new to entourage, can't import .csv file, and all mail is junk

hi all.

just crossed over from pc, and purcahsed full version of office 04 for
mac, and found it uses entourage. the question i have is that firstly,
i saved my contacts from outlook on my pc as a .csv file. when i try
to import them into entourage, the files come into the address book,
but they are all empty. so i import them into the address book mac
has, they come in ok and have details and stuff, then sync them with
entourage, they also seem to be there, when i email they look for the
name etc, problem i am having is that enterouge is treating everything
i receive in my mail box as junk, if it is from a contact in my
address book or not. i have the junk mail filter turned off all
together, and it still does it.
it doesn't matter what mail i am getting, everything is put straight
into the junk mail folder. i have deleted entourage and reinstalled it
and it is still the same. i have also deleted the .prefs file and
started again, but my email account settings were still there. any
ideas
?

its getting a little annoying.

any help would be great

cheers

I¹m not clear if you do have all of your contacts imported. If not, take a
look at Outlook2Mac a third party application ($10) is highly recommended by
users. Exports Email, Email Attachments, Contacts, and Calendar Appointments

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the junk mail folder as the
target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other rules.

FYI...

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in the order listed above. The custom rules also run in the order
they are listed. (top runs first)

Use the MLM for all lists. Use rules for the remainder. Try to use
categories instead of individual addresses when possible. When a new address
is added to a contact in the Address Book then it will automatically be
acted on by the rule if you use categories in your rules. See example:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/rule002.html>

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.

2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.

3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.

See "Using Rules with Entourage" for help and examples:

Welcome!

I just did a Google search for "importing Outlook into Entourage" and
found this right away:

Do you have any Rules that mark messages as Junk?

mail.
