Newbie : Command Button to Find

I would like to set up a command button to display a
dialog box that will allow a record search by either a
serial number or barcode number and then go to that
record. Admittedly, I know next to nothing about VB so any
help would be much appreciated. Also, if you know a good
resource for a beginner to learn VB would help!
