Newbie question - removed items from footer and can't restore them...

I was working on a presentation containing Pagenumber - footer text - date
in the footer. I accidently deleted the date field (pressed del key) from
the footer, therefor I couldn't see the date anymore when running the
presentation although the "header and footer" settings still claim that the
date is still visible.
Is there a possibility to get the date back on the layout?

Go to View > Master > Slide Master. Then go to Format > Master Layout and
check the date field. Then go to View > Normal. The date should be showing
on all slides.
